RADON TESTING

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer deaths in the United States every year next to smoking. Testing is the only way to find out your homes radon levels. The EPA (environmental protection agency) and the Surgeon General recommend testing all homes for radon. If you find out you have high radon levels, there are ways to fix the problem. Even high levels can be reduced to acceptable levels within your home. Radon has been found in homes all over the United States. It comes from the natural breakdown of uranium in soil and rock which then enters the air we breathe. Radon typically moves up through the ground to the air above by making its way through cracks and holes in a properties foundation. Radon will also enter you home through the well water system. I use a continuous radon monitor which is re-calibrated every year and provides instant results. Radon testing requires a minimum of 48 hours of continuous monitoring. EPA recommends radon levels below 4 pCi/L.
